About The Studio

Imani James Interiors is an Atlanta-based interior design studio creating distinctive spaces for hospitality, business, and beyond. 

Our work begins with how a space should feel and how it needs to perform. We consider the experience as a whole: the arrival, the movement through a space, the quality of light, the materials under hand, and the details that remain with you. 

With an approach grounded in materiality, atmosphere, and restraint, the studio creates interiors with depth and character. Spaces that feel refined, individual, and enduring. 

From restaurants and hospitality environments to medical, wellness, and professional spaces, Imani James Interiors works collaboratively with clients, architects, contractors, and artisans to bring each project from its earliest idea to a fully realized interior.

Imani James

For Imani James, design is both instinctive and informed. 

Her passion for interior design began more than two decades ago, when she designed her first home with her husband. What began as a personal exploration of interiors evolved into a deeper pursuit of the discipline, leading her to complete courses at renowned design institutions across Europe, including the Paris American Academy in France, Istituto Marangoni in Milan, and the British Academy of Interior Design in London. 

Imani brings an intuitive way of seeing to her work. An ability to recognize possibilities that may not be immediately apparent and to notice the subtle relationships between architecture, material, light, and objects that ultimately give a space its character. Experience has further refined that instinct, bringing clarity and discernment to both the creative process and the decisions that shape an interior. 

Travel, fashion, art, architecture, and culture continue to inform her eye, but a prescribed aesthetic never drives her work. She draws from these influences selectively, allowing each interior to develop an identity of its own. 

As her practice has evolved, Imani has become increasingly drawn to spaces experienced collectively: the restaurant where people gather, the workplace that shapes a daily experience, and the medical or wellness environment that can feel considered rather than clinical. 

This evolution has led to an expanding focus on hospitality and commercial interiors, where design has the opportunity to shape not only how a space looks, but how it is experienced and remembered.

Imani James and her work have been recognized and featured by Architectural Digest, ELLE Decor,  Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Modern Luxury Interiors, Simply Buckhead, Atlanta Journal-Constitution,  North Buckhead Neighbors, and GoodHousekeeping.com. Additionally, Imani was named one of Modern Luxury Interiors' 2024 Faces of Design and received Top 20 African American Designer and Top Atlanta Interior Designer honors.
